"Can't reach the data service" — what does that mean?

Pulse's front page needs its backend running to fetch live data. If you're self-hosting, make sure the API server is up and that the address in the front end matches where it's actually running.

How do I switch country or section?

Use the country buttons in the top bar (Pakistan, India, UAE, Saudi, UK, US, World) to change the whole page's focus, and the section tabs (Top, Business, Technology, Sport, Culture, Health, Science) to filter "The desk" grid of stories.

Why do gold and currency show different numbers for each country?

The rates panel converts the same international spot prices into the local currency of whichever country you have selected, so switching from Pakistan to the US moves the panel from rupees to dollars.

How fresh is the data?

• News headlines — refreshed roughly every 10 minutes
• Search trends — roughly every 15 minutes
• Gold / currency / crypto rates — roughly every 15 minutes
• Weather — roughly every 30 minutes
• Cricket — roughly every 5 minutes

The page itself also auto-refreshes while the tab is open and visible.

Where does the data come from?

Headlines and trends come from Google News and Google Trends plus a handful of publisher RSS feeds. Currency, gold and crypto prices come from public exchange-rate, gold, and CoinGecko APIs. Weather comes from Open-Meteo. Cricket updates come from public cricket RSS feeds. Pulse doesn't run its own newsroom — it aggregates and links back to the source.

Something looks wrong or out of date

Because Pulse pulls from third-party sources, an outage or format change upstream can occasionally show stale or missing data for a section. It usually recovers on its own once the source is back; if it doesn't, let us know.
